RELATED: One Piece: Is Sanji Not A Human Anymore?

Just like every other member of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami is a fighter as well as a navigator. Although she might not look to be the strongest on the crew, she certainly ranks among the best pirates in the New World. Here’s a look at some of the most impressive things she’s done in her time on the show.

Updated April 23, 2022 by Rei Penber: Namiis often considered to be a part of the Weak Trio of the Straw Hat Pirates, along with Usopp and Chopper, however, she has impressed spectacularly on several occasions in the story.

While she hasn’t always been able to defeat her enemies with strength, Nami’s use of wit and tactics in battle is incredible and allows her to overcome even the strongest of opponents. With 8 of the biggest events where Nami proved she isn’t weak already on the list, we decided to expand further upon the list with some more incredible Nami moments where she shines bright.

12 Played A Part In Buggy’s Defeat

When she was introduced in Orange Town, fans quickly got to see Nami’s strengths as a fighter. She may not be the strongest, physically speaking, but she’s one of the smartest and that’s how she fights her fights.

When fighting Buggy, Nami used the distractions around her to capture the several floating parts of Buggy and tie him up, setting him up for defeat in the process. Without Nami, Luffy would certainly have struggled far more against Buggy, but she helped him to reach victory.

11 When She Stood Up To Arlong

Nami’s life was turned upside down when Arlong took over Cocoyashi village and enslaved the entire population there. Spending years trying to earn the freedom of everyone, Nami showed tremendous mental strength that even the adults lacked.

When Arlong broke his promise to her, Nami gathered everyone in the village and was willing to die fighting Arlong if that’s what it took to earn freedom. Thankfully, Luffy defeated Arlong for her, however, Nami’s incredible resolve and determination certainly make her strong.

10 Nami Versus Miss Doublefinger

Fans’ first taste of Nami’s abilities in a one-on-one fight came during the Alabasta arc, where she faced off against Miss Doublefinger. Doublefinger, the partner of Mr. 1, was extremely powerful and certainly someone who could give any of the Straw Hat crew some problems at that time.

Despite being outclassed, Nami not only persevered but also devised a way to defeat her. Using the power of weather, Nami was able to completely overwhelm Miss Doublefinger and continue to help Vivi afterward.

9 Nami Versus Hotori & Kotori

The Skypiea arc of One Piece saw Nami and Gan Fall take on Hotori and Kotori while trying to protect Sanji and Usopp. Despite the two having powerful Haki, Nami put up quite a decent fight against them. In the end, she defeated Kotori by using an Impact Dial.

The fact that Nami was strong enough to sustain the use of an Impact Dial without any practice goes to show that she certainly wasn’t weak then. Since then, Nami has come a long way and is now stronger than ever before.

8 Nami Versus Kalifa

Perhaps Nami’s best fight in the story so far, Nami’s fight against Kalifa saw her take on a master of Rokushiki, who had a Douriki of 630. Being a master of the Rokushiki, Kalifa was a superhuman whom few could stand up against.

Once again, Nami found herself on the back foot at the beginning of the fight but as the battle raged on, she started to take control and get stronger. Nami completely outclassed Kalifa in both tactics and the usage of their abilities. Nami didn’t even suffer any major injury while defeating her and persevered until the end.

7 When She Fought Absalom

Nami fought Absalom for quite a while in the Thriller Bark arc and while it isn’t one of her best fights, it gave fans a decent glimpse of how dangerous she could be given the opportunity. Despite Absalom having a monstrous body, Nami was able to completely paralyze him on more than one occasion.

What’s more, she didn’t even use her strongest attacks against him, which just goes to show that she could’ve taken him on in a serious fight with a bit more preparation. Eventually, Nami was the one who defeated him after Sanji seriously injured him.

6 Played A Part In Oars’ Defeat

The Thriller Bark arc of One Piece saw the Straw Hat Pirates combine their efforts to defeat Oars, an Ancient Giant Zombie and one of the arc’s main antagonists.

After already having defeated Absalom, Nami jumped into combat once again and did quite a lot of damage to Oars. Using her lightning bolts and even techniques like Rain Tempo, she was able to weaken him and set Luffy up to finish him off. His defeat would have been impossible without her help.

5 Sanji’s Use Of Blue Walk

Trafalgar Law’s involvement in the Punk Hazard arc spelled trouble for the Straw Hat Pirates, especially when he switched their personalities with his Ope Ope no Mi powers. While Sanji was in Nami’s body, he decided to rescue Kin’emon’s torso from a lake. Despite being in Nami’s body, he was still able to use Blue Walk.

Although Nami can’t use this ability herself, the fact that Sanji was able to use it in her body just goes to show that she has incredible strength of body as well. Due to her not having been involved in a major fight after the timeskip, Nami’s true physical strength often goes unnoticed.

4 When She Played A Part In Cracker’s Defeat

Nami’s incredible wit came into play on several occasions during the Whole Cake Island arc and Luffy’s fight against Cracker was one such moment too. Using the Vivre Card that Lola gave her, Nami surrounded herself with Big Mom’s homies and used them flawlessly to hold off Cracker.

When needed, she made Cracker’s biscuits wet so Luffy could eat his way through them. Nami played a massive role in Cracker’s eventual fall and had it not been for her, Luffy would certainly have died there.

3 Attacking Big Mom

Nami was key to the survival of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Whole Cake Island arc. When Big Mom was chasing the crew, she played just as important a role as the other Straw Hats in stopping her. By stealing Zeus and using her own weapon against her, Nami was able to hurt Big Mom — nothing short of an incredible feat, given that Big Mom is a Yonko of the Sea.

Surprisingly, Nami managed to momentarily halt Big Mom not once but twice. When the angry Yonko chased the crew through the seducing wood, Nami managed to use Zeus’s thunderbolt to stop her. Later on in the arc, she combined well with Brook to electrocute her once again.

2 When She Endured Ulti’s Strongest Attacks

Nami fought Ulti in the Wano Country arc and the two clashed on a few occasions. Although Nami successfully landed a couple of blows on her, it wasn’t until she got her hand on Zeus that she finally defeated her. Yet, she managed to take Ulti’s haki-enhanced headbutts, which require incredible resilience to survive.

Later, in the face of death, Nami declared that Luffy would become the Pirate King and was willing to take yet another one of these lethal attacks at the cost of her life. Without a doubt, this goes on to show that her body is quite tough and that she isn’t as weak as people make her out to be.

1 Nami’s Defeat Of Ulti

Nami vs Ulti was one of the highlights in the Wano Country arc, and although she wasn’t able to stand up to Ulti initially, she was able to defeat her nonetheless. After Big Mom weakened Ulti quite a bit, Nami got a new power-up in the form of Zeus, who merged with her Climatact. With this newfound ability, she was able to defeat Ulti, a pirate worth 400 million berries.

With time, Nami’s control over Zeus will only get better and she’s on course to become an even stronger pirate. Her perseverence and cleverness in fights will continue to serve her well.
